Can you put chlorine tablets in a well?
Never pool tablets: trichlor tablets carry cyanuric acid, which does not belong in drinking water. Calcium hypochlorite pellets made for wells are a different product; they sink and dose the bottom of the water column as part of a shock treatment, and they carry every limit chlorine has. Dropping tablets in as ongoing maintenance is not a strategy: it corrodes the pump and casing and never reaches the biofilm.
Any chlorine product for a well should be plain calcium hypochlorite or sodium hypochlorite labeled for potable water, dosed by your well's gallons rather than by the handful, held for the contact time, and flushed until a residual test reads zero.
